Paddock Ledger Pro Support

Your herd. Your phone.
No signal needed.

Offline herd and flock records for small Australian cattle and sheep breeders. Your records stay on your phone or tablet. There is no account and no cloud copy.

Reader testing. No part of the app has yet been tried with a real Gallagher, Tru-Test, Datamars, Allflex, Shearwell, Agrident or Aleis reader. Reader support is built to published manuals and formats. Gallagher and Tru-Test are being tested first, and we'll publish a list of what's confirmed.

Getting started

From install to your first yard day.

1. Install it on your phone or tablet

Paddock Ledger Pro is a web app you add to your home screen. Open the app's web address while you have signal.

  • iPhone or iPad (Safari): tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, then Add. Open it from the new icon.
  • Android (Chrome): tap the ⋮ menu, then Install app or Add to Home screen. Open it from the new icon.

2. Set up your farm

  1. Tap More → Settings.
  2. Enter Farm name, Your name and your PIC (8 letters or digits).
  3. Under Mobs and paddocks, add your mobs and paddocks.
  4. Under Yard feedback, choose Beep, Vibrate and Speak the result.
  5. Want a look first? Load sample herd fills in example animals. Clear this device removes everything.

3. Get your animals in

  • Herd → Add animal, then Save animal.
  • Scan an unknown tag in Yard mode and tap Add this animal.
  • More → Import a reader session file (.csv, .txt, .xml, .xls or .xlsx). The app shows every row with any issues before anything is saved; tap Save the clean rows.

4. Back up after every yard day

Use More → Settings → Download backup and keep the file somewhere safe. Clearing your browser data, or losing the phone, loses the herd if you have no backup.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about what the app does and doesn't do.

Does it work without phone signal?

Yes. Records are stored on the device and the app doesn't need an account. Install it to your home screen while you have signal.

Cattle and sheep?

Both, in one price.

How much does it cost?

The free plan holds 25 active head. Nothing is billed in the current version. Pricing will be announced at launch.

Does it lodge my NLIS transfers?

No. It prepares the CSV in the layout the NLIS database accepts by upload. You log in at nlis.com.au with myMLA, upload it and check that Transaction history says Complete. It is not NLIS-certified.

Will my reader connect directly on iPhone?

iPhone and iPad browsers can't open a Bluetooth serial connection. Use keyboard mode or import the session file.

Can I take a photo of each animal?

Yes, from the animal card using the phone camera. It's stored on the device.

Are mineral injections separate from vaccinations?

Yes. Vaccination, Mineral or vitamin, and Treatment are kept as separate categories.

How does body condition scoring work?

Tap a score from 1 to 5 (half steps) on the animal card. The app flags a drop or a thin score.

Does it read withholding periods from the product?

No. You type the withholding and ESI days; the app reminds you. Check the label.

Are the breed weight suggestions advice?

No. They're published breed figures for guidance only, not veterinary advice. You can set your own targets.

Can I get my data out?

Yes: herd CSV export and a full JSON backup.

Can several people use it?

Not yet. Multi-user is planned.

Troubleshooting

Common problems and how to fix them.

Scanning a tag does nothing

Check the reader's Bluetooth output is set to keyboard / HID mode (the menu name differs by model; check your reader's manual) and that it's paired in the phone's Bluetooth settings like a keyboard. The app doesn't pair Bluetooth itself.

Start a Yard session before scanning. The screen should change from READY to SAVED, WAITING or UNKNOWN.

Import rejected some tags

Rows with a tag in Excel scientific form (e.g. 9.82E+14) are rejected, not guessed. Re-export the file from your reader software without opening it in Excel first.

DUPLICATE (red) in the yard

That tag is already in this session. Tick Allow a second weight if you meant to weigh twice. On import, tick Keep duplicate rows as extra weights.

My herd disappeared

Data lives on the device only. If browser data was cleared, restore from your last downloaded backup.

Still need a hand?

Include your device, browser and reader model, and we'll get back to you.
